Cenotes as Cuneiform

emerald essence turquoise-blue
surrounds this lavender shore

wave crests challenge our feet
like cold rain; still the ocean
oscillates beneath and between

sun-kissed gulls float luxuriously
overhead heralding the dawn
even before its rise

nestled near a wet crescent
where swans once swam
churning wet wantonness to joy

spiral unfoldment in a cleft
of glacial erratic - memory weaves
waves as cave depths saturate

ancient lapidarists carve earth’s
craving; its sandstone buttressed
in wisps of wonder – afloat

this mirrored reflection emits
jade-green shade a macramé
of sand, sea and air

we dare not wash
in this wilderness of ourselves

Cicatrice Tears

a lone Buffalo flies at sunset
its wings cradle secrets

shadow of devastation
ever sacred ever knowing

blow wind blow
from Seminole to Shinnecock

this brittle beyond
blow wind blow

across blood trail passages
of Abénaki and Apache

where once herds roamed
effortlessly

shielded from the sun
salt and sea

vanishing volcanos creased
a vapid alley to the clouds

Prairie falcons document
survival with talon scrawls

Navajo lands on Shiprock
nestled in Red Valley

they had no fear
as they kissed earth’s shore

a sheer jester’s gesture
hiccup of hysteria on history

ancient and familiar
are no more, only

a forgotten wing on its floor

Think Class-ified

Their eyes met as he leaned back in his Telsa S
checked his Rolex Sky Dweller
ran a hand across his Gucci musk-ed Man-bun
-- Paused – flicked his Cuban Cigar
with sex appeal - ashes away …

She puckered her Revlon lip-ice to a mint flavored
vape pen inhaled deeply - flowers grew in her eyes
sportin’ a blonde Dark & Lovely Naomi Simms
-- Sighed – drank her Chocolate Martini
then Fashion-Faired away …

in her Capezio’s ballet slippers
they met not knowing the other was there
