We are the seekers, the malcontents, the dreamers. The thinkers left broken by the status quo. We are the writers who don’t usually fit. The non-conforming conformists. We are unbranded by branding, lost in a sea of words, forlorn.

After/Thought Literary is a literary journal for the in-between, made for the misfits of genre, of voice, of heart.

This is a space for good writing of all kinds. A place where we’re left wanting. Sometimes we don’t take kindly to kindness, reward brevity with verbosity, and cling to the nostalgia of lost days. We’re different than most journals and honestly: we like it that way.

We’re not after perfection. And neither should you be. It’s our mission to help others be seen in an industry complicit on leaving people out.

Here, we want to publish individuals who have been published everywhere and those who have not. This journal was born of the silence left waiting for the response. From those moments when you don’t know an outcome. From loss and gain. We want to help you, the writer, or the reader, be found.
